Member Monday: Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services

James Black

Today’s #MemberMonday is the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services!

By supporting the efforts of citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia to secure independence, inclusion, and integration, the mission of the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) is to improve the employment, quality of life, security, and independence of older Virginians, including Virginians with disabilities, and their families. To help facilitate these objectives, DARS offers a variety of services to empower Virginians who meet certain criteria, including assistance with developing career pathways, rehabilitation technology services, autism services, and many more! DARS also maintains critical partnerships with organizations such as the Wilson Workforce & Rehabilitation Center (WWRC), Disability Determination, Virginia Assistive Technology System (VATS), and the Assistive Technology Loan Fund Authority (ATLFA). Additionally, DARS offers strategically targeted programs to assist older adults and individuals with disabilities at work, along with resources for employers. DARS is playing an undeniably important role in supporting the business community across the Lynchburg region by elevating the quality of life.

The Lynchburg DARS office is located at 2250 Murrell Road, Suite F, Lynchburg, VA 24501. You can reach them by phone at (434) 947-6721, or email them at dars@dars.virginia.gov.
