NEW Workforce Portal Coming Soon
As part of our Regional Workforce Roadmap, the Lynchburg Regional Workforce Network is committed to building a robust strategy to connect all the excellent services and partners of our region into one easy to use space, train educators on our region's in-demand jobs, and connect students and young talent to opportunities. To this end, we have some exciting plans in the works:
1. A Workforce Portal that will offer students, job-seekers, employers, and regional partners one gateway to connect. Job-seekers will be able to view available jobs in our region and resources to get hired, employers will get connected to our region's talent pipeline, students will learn about in-demand fields, and regional partners will be able to share opportunities for training, education, and assistance. We hope to have this hub webpage completed by Fall 2024 with the full system integrated with regional partners by 2026.
2. The Educator's Academy is a new program that will take teachers, educators, and school officials through an intensive training on our region's workforce. Giving them the tools they need to share what opportunities are available locally for their students. The inaugural program will commence later this year. More details are coming soon.
3. The Worlds of Opportunity Career Expo - you may remember this event from 2019 where 3,500 local students interacted with hands-on exhibits with employers from across the region. With the pandemic behind us, we are bringing back this two-day opportunity for students to meet face-to-face with employers and the jobs of tomorrow. This year's career expo will be held on CVCC's campus on October 14-15th and will welcome eigth graders from across the region. There will also be an evening open house on the first day where high school students, parents, and the public can come to get connected with employers as well.
