Volunteer Opportunities

The Alliance's program of work would not be accomplished without the many resources provided by our numerous member volunteers. Giving of time, talents and sometimes even finances, men and women from throughout the region are making a positive difference in Lynchburg Region's business climate through their volunteer efforts. And there's always room for more!

Why volunteer? Well, in addition to the fact that it's good for the community, it's also good for you! Volunteers make contacts with like-minded business professionals, gain valuable leadership experiences and receive increased visibility for themselves and their organizations. Take a look at

The Air Service Development Committee is charged with the task of improving fares, connections, and equipment at the Lynchburg Regional Airport. Since September 11, 2001 the committee’s focus has changed to leverage incentives and legislative pressure on air service providers to continue much needed air travel connectivity to major hubs. Committee members are comprised of CEOs of the major businesses in the region, which collectively spend about $14 million per year on air travel. Connection Management Team
Members of the Connection Management Team serve in an advisory capacity to the professional staff of the Alliance. They assist in the planning and implementation of the Alliance's annual Trade Show. Leadership Lynchburg Council of Regents
The Council of Regents oversees the Leadership Lynchburg program and helps to select curriculum and activities for each years' class. Membership is open to alumni of the Leadership Lynchburg program. Legislative Affairs Committee
The Legislative Affairs Committee identifies public policy issues that affect the business community at the federal, state and local levels. The committee helps the Board of Directors establish legislative agendas and priorities and serves as the voice of business. Committee members are expected to attend Alliance legislative events and trips. They should also be willing to contact elected officials as well as candidates for public office. Members of of our Ambassadors team serve in a public relations capacity to welcome new members, assist in member retention and have key volunteer roles at an assortment of Alliance events. Interested members complete an application and meet with prospective Ambassador members to determine eligibility and qualifications. Alliance members interested in this committee should contact Heath Barret, Vice President of Membership Development at (434) 845-5968 x20 for a Prospective Ambassador packet including bylaws, application and CEO Pledge..

Small Business Committee
The Small Business Committee works to represent and promote the interests of the Alliance's small business members. Through a number of activities and programs, this committee helps build public awareness for small business in the region. Membership is open to interested Alliance members. Lynchburg Regional Transportation Advocacy Group (LRTAG)
Lynchburg Region Transportation Advocacy Group (LRTAG)  is involved in working to improve all modes of transportation serving the Lynchburg Region - highways, air service, rail service, public transit and multi-modal concepts.
